Bangladesh: Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayeedi, the Deputy Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, was transferred to jail.
According to international media reports, 83-year-old Maulana Delwar Hossain Saidi suffered a heart attack while in jail, and he was subsequently shifted to a hospital, where he breathed his last.
Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayeedi will be laid to rest in his hometown.
The news of Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayeedi's death in custody led to a significant public outcry, with crowds taking to the streets to protest vehemently.
As per media reports, Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayeedi was arrested in June 2010.
He had been sentenced to death by a tribunal for war crimes in 2013.
The Bangladeshi Supreme Court later commuted Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayeedi's death sentence to life imprisonment.
