Islamabad: President Dr Arif Alvi has called for collective efforts on part of the government and private organizations for welfare of the elderly and poor people.
He was talking to a delegation of Multan based Old Age Home, Aafiyat that called on him in Islamabad today.
The President underscored the need for legal and social measures to ensure that elderly people are provided a caring environment with all basic amenities of life.
He said it is responsibility of the parents to raise their children with due care providing them best possible facilities and then the children are duty bound to take care of parents in their old age.
Dr Arif Alvi said Islam gives special importance to respect and care of elders.
He urged the philanthropists to contribute to the efforts being made in this regard.
