Donald Trump to surrender on Thursday
Former US President Trump announces to surrender on Thursday against the allegations of changing election results.
Atlanta: Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced to surrender on Thursday.
In a social media statement on Monday, he stated his intention to be arrested in Atlanta. Donald Trump has been indicted by the same state for trying to reverse his 2020 election loss in Georgia.
According to the British news agency Reuters, Donald Trump has stated on his social media platform Truth that he will go to Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday for his arrest.
Trump alleges that the criminal charges against him are a political effort to damage his electoral campaign.
Earlier, CNN had reported that Trump intended to be arrested in Fulton County Jail in Atlanta on Thursday.
According to CNN, the date was decided during negotiations between Donald Trump's lawyers and the Fulton County District Attorney's office over the terms of his release on Monday.
Last week, a 98-page indictment was filed against Donald Trump and 18 others in Georgia.
The indictment included a total of 41 criminal allegations related to efforts to change his defeat in the state's 2020 elections.
Local authorities state that stringent security measures will be in place around the jail after Trump's arrest.
Trump has repeatedly claimed, without evidence, that these charges against him are "political revenge."
