Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Friday adjourned the hearing on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan's appeal for suspension of sentence in Toshakhana case due to the non-appearance of Election Commission's lawyer Amjad Pervaiz.

According to details, the bench headed by Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of IHC heard the petition filed for suspension of Imran Khan's sentence, in which the assistant lawyer of Amjad Pervaiz appeared in the court and told that Amjad could not appear due to illness.

Amjad Pervaiz's assistant counsel told the court that for last eight months we have not asked for adjournment, the doctor has recommended bed rest and my lawyer's letter is not in this case.

On this, Justice Aamer Farooq said: “The request for suspension of sentence is now at the critical stage, the arguments were to be completed in 15 to 20 minutes, there was no DB on Friday, we could have adjourned the case till Monday but we did not”.

We can also do what trial court did but we will not, what the trial court did was wrong. We adjourn it till Monday and if no one comes then we will decide, told Aamer.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan's lawyer Latif Khosa said that a person has been in jail for 20 days, now he will be kept in the prison for another three days.

“Then we will not appear in court, do what you have to do,” added Latif Khosa.

Later, the court granted the adjournment request of Amjad Pervaiz advocate of the Election Commission and adjourned the hearing till Monday.
