Twitter (X) lifts ban on political advertisements
Back in 2019, X had imposed a ban on political advertisements.
Social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) has lifted the ban on political advertisements ahead of the upcoming U.S. presidential elections.
X had imposed a ban on political advertisements back in 2019, with the then-owner Jack Dorsey stating that it contradicted the principles of free expression as they exerted power to amplify political messages to others.
In January of the current year, only issue-based and societal advertisements were permitted in the United States.
Under the ownership of Elon Musk, the platform's name was changed from Twitter to X.
Now, with X allowing political advertisements, the restriction has been removed.
