Washington: United States has delivered justice to a man who served 47 years behind bars for a wrongful rape conviction, thanks to DNA evidence.
The exoneration comes as a result of the ongoing efforts to rectify past miscarriages of justice.
The case involves a 72-year-old African American man, Leonard Meek, who was wrongly accused of assaulting a schoolgirl in New York State over four decades ago.
Meek had served more than seven years of his sentence before the real perpetrator was identified and confessed to the crime.
