Donald Bloom calls on Gohar Ejaz
The US ambassador praised the government's measures and pledged to cooperate with Pakistan to expand trade and investment relations.
Islamabad: The US Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Bloom called on the interim Federal Minister for Industries & Production Division Dr Gohar Ejaz and discussed ways to enhance bilateral trade and investment between the two countries on Thursday.
Dr. Ejaz briefed the ambassador on the specifics of Pakistan's government's establishment of a Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to entice foreign investment in a number of industries, including mining, minerals, agriculture, information technology, and energy.
The federal minister welcomed American businesses to investigate the possibilities in these industries and assured them of help and facilitation from the government.
The ambassador was also informed by Dr. Ejaz Gohar on the government's attempts to improve the business climate and ease of doing business in Pakistan as well as its economic recovery strategy.
The US ambassador praised the government's measures and pledged to cooperate with Pakistan to expand trade and investment relations.
Donald Bloom also discussed the possibilities of increasing exports of Pakistani products to the US market, especially in the areas of textiles, value-added food products, fresh mangoes, dates, soybeans and beef.
