Cypher case: Special court rejects bail pleas of Imran Khan, SM Qureshi

Islamabad: A special court established under the Official Secrets Act has rejected the bail pleas of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and party’s Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cypher case on Thursday.
Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain of the special court heard the arguments from the attorneys for PTI before hearing the bail requests and rendering the decision.
Earlier today, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore sent PTI leader Yasmin Rashid to jail on a 14-day judicial remand in a case pertaining to May 9 events on Thursday.
Yasmin was brought into court today after her physical remand expired under the supervision of ATC Judge Abher Gul Khan.
The PTI leader was placed in jail on a 14-day judicial remand after the police declined to request her continued physical remand.
The court further ordered the police to present the case challan at the subsequent hearing.
The court also granted Yasmin Rashid's request to attend Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital in a separate matter.
