Bilawal reiterates demand for timely elections
The PPP chairman says they will make their election strategy soon as the ECP announces the election date.
Lahore: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to give election date, saying that the public was worried due to inflation and unemployment.
“We will come up with our election strategy soon as the election date is announced by the ECP,” said the PPP chairman while talking to the reporters in Lahore.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari , who also served as Foreign Minister in the PDM government, said that General Pasha, Iftikhar Chaudhary and a political party did conspiracy to oust the PPP from Punjab in 2013.
“That political party also suffered after ouster of the PPP from Punjab,” said Bilawal, adding that General Faiz, former CJP Saqib Nisar and a political party were united later in 2018. He stated that the issue of level playing field was put before President Zardari and they hoped that he would address this issue.
He stated that confusion would be over soon as the ECP announced the election date.
He was of the view that all the political parties should play their due role to restore the hopes of the pubic and especially of the youths. He stated that the people, especially the youth should be brought to the election process.
The elections, he said, were like an opportunity to have “your voice” heard. The traditional way of politic, Bilawal said, was needed to be dropped. He said that 65 per cent of the population comprised of 30 years of age.
The PPP chairman stated that he knew the problems of the youths and was well aware about their difficulties, saying that he studied abroad and would engage the youths with the politics in a bid to overcome their disappointments.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari went on to say that one of the PPP’s allied parties always begged when it got trapped in any trouble.
“When they get out of the trouble they just take you from the throat,” said the PPP chairman.
Talking about the Supreme Court decision on NAB amendments, Bilawal stated that they were already expecting such decision and such decision would not affect the PPP as they faced cases in the past and were ready to face again.
Responding to another question about outgoing Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, he said that the history would define his role in the judiciary. May 9 incidents crossed a line but the PPP believed in dialogue with all the non-violent parties.
