India scraps ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 opening ceremony
The Opening Ceremony of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at Narendra Modi Stadium on October 4th was slated for grandeur.
New Delhi: India has taken the surprising decision to cancel the opening ceremony of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, which was originally scheduled to be held on October 4 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The World Cup is set to officially kick off on October 5 with a match between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, India.
While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reportedly made the decision to cancel the ceremony, no specific reasons for this cancellation have been disclosed.
The BCCI has also informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) about this development.
Instead of the grand opening ceremony initially planned for October 4, there are discussions within the BCCI about holding an event in Ahmedabad ahead of the highly anticipated India-Pakistan match on October 14.
Previously, the opening ceremony was set to feature prominent Bollywood actors, singers, and business personalities, with musical performances by renowned artists Shriya Ghoshal, Arijit Singh, and legendary singer Asha Bhosle.
