Ahmedabad: After four years, the World Cricket 2023 event is all set to be held in India from today (Thursday). The 10 best teams of the world will compete for the glittering trophy.

According to details, the 10 teams of the event will play against each other out of which the top four teams will advance to the semi-finals.

The opening match of this World Cup will be played today between the defending champions of the previous mega event, England and runners-up New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Today, the opening match of the World Cup will start at 1:30 PM Pakistan time.

Incidentally, in One Day International (ODI) cricket, both teams are equal in terms of statistics. England and New Zealand have played 95 ODI matches against each other, both have won 44 matches, three matches were tied, while four matches could not produce any results.

Apart from this, both teams are equal in terms of victory in the World Cup competitions. There have been 10 matches between the teams so far and both have won five matches each. However, New Zealand will give a tough match to England as it defeated the English team by 11 runs in the group match of the 1996 World Cup.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam and India captain Rohit Sharma entered the Captain's Day together in Ahmedabad on Wednesday as the captains of all the teams participating in the World Cup gathered in Ahmedabad.

On this occasion, Babar Azam said that they will give 100% in the World Cup and have worked hard for it. It would be better if Pakistani fans could also come to India.

While, Indian captain Rohit Sharma said that it will be a tough tournament, but will enjoy it.

Apart from this, Australian captain Pete Cummins stated that he will try to continue the winning streak while the captains of New Zealand and Bangladesh appeared determined to perform well in the event.

It should be noted that the event which started from October 5 will continue till November 19.
