Following the game against New Zealand, several cricketers will be granted a period of rest.
Delhi: The Indian cricket team has made the decision to provide a brief respite to several of its players, including the team's captain, Rohit Sharma.
As per reports from Indian media, the decision to grant leave to these players will come into effect after India's forthcoming match against New Zealand, which is scheduled for this coming Sunday.
Following the match against New Zealand, the players will have a one-week break before they face England on October 29.
This deliberate move to grant players a much-needed break has been prompted by the hectic schedule they've endured recently, which includes the ongoing World Cup and the Asia Cup that preceded it.
Due to these back-to-back tournaments, players have had limited opportunities to return home and spend time with their families.
The Indian Cricket Board sources reveal that this break is crucial to ensure that the players get some respite and rejuvenation.
After the New Zealand match, the cricketers will have the option to take a 2- to 3-day break to spend quality time with their families.
Among the key players expected to be granted a break are the likes of captain Rohit Sharma, along with notable names such as Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya.
This well-thought-out decision not only recognizes the physical and mental toll that international cricket can take on players but also underscores the team management's commitment to keeping the squad in optimal condition for the remainder of the tournament.
It's clear that ensuring the well-being of the players is a priority for the Indian cricket team, as they seek to maintain their competitive edge in the World Cup.
