Beijing: A delegation of Chinese experts from the Zhejiang Institute of Geosciences, Zhejiang University, and Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences visited Pakistan to promote a joint research project on heavy metal tracing in cadmium-polluted rice fields and rice safety production technology.
The project aims to address the issue of heavy metal pollution in agricultural soil with China’s research findings and remediation experience to reduce pollution sources and control associated risks. Innovative products such as soil conditioners and foliar inhibitors are also planned to be introduced to Pakistan.
During the visit, the delegation engaged in discussions and exchanges with prominent Pakistani institutions, including the National Agricultural Research Center(NARC) and universities, China Economic Net (CEN) reported.
They also participated an academic seminar on the prevention and control of soil heavy metals, where Dr.Lu Xinzhe from Zhejiang Institute of Geosciences delivered a presentation on the sources and risk assessment of soil heavy metals.
The visit strengthened the implementation of the Pak-China joint research project, facilitating knowledge exchange and data collection. It marked a significant step towards achieving the project’s goals of improving soil quality, enhancing rice safety, and promoting the application of relevant technologies and products in Pakistan.
