Asian Para Games: Pakistani athlete Haider Ali clinches gold medal
Haider Ali Secures Paris 2024 Paralympics Spot with Gold in Asian Games.
Hangzhou: In a remarkable achievement, Haider Ali, often regarded as Pakistan's premier para-athlete, clinched the gold medal in the Discus Throw event during the ongoing Asian Para Games held in Hangzhou, China.
This victory not only adds to his impressive track record but also secures his place in the Paris 2024 Paralympics.
Haider's exceptional performance saw him achieving a remarkable throw of 51.23 meters during his fourth attempt.
Japan's Yamato Shimbo secured the silver medal with a throw of 49.70 meters, while China's Zhang Xuelong took home the bronze with his 48.26 meters throw.
The athlete surpassed the minimum entry standard for the Paris 2024 Paralympics, which stands at 39 meters.
Impressively, all six of his throws during the competition exceeded this benchmark.
This is not the first time Haider Ali has brought glory to Pakistan.
He made history by winning Pakistan's inaugural gold medal in Discus Throw at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
His talents extend beyond Discus Throw, as he previously secured a silver and a bronze medal in the Long Jump event during the 2008 and 2016 Paralympics, respectively.
With a total of six medals at the Asian Para Games, Haider has showcased his exceptional abilities in various events, including Javelin Throw, Discus Throw, 100m, and Long Jump.
