LHC orders smog emergency in city
Justice Shahid Karim said that the current government is responsible for the current smog situation.
Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Wednesday expressed anger over the current situation of smog in the city ordering to impose smog emergency.
According to details, Justiice Shahid Karim of LHC heard the petitions for smog remedy in LHC, during which Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Randhawa and other officers appeared before the court.
Justice Shahid directed the Commissioner Lahore to report if there is an industry emitting black smoke in the areas of schools and colleges.
Commissioner Lahore has also been instructed by the court to not seal and de-seal the black smoke emitting factories and all school and college students should be directed to report black smoke emitting factories.
During the hearing, Justice Shahid Karim expressed his displeasure over the smog situation and said that the current government is responsible for the current smog situation.
“This smog used to blanket the city in late November and December, now it has appeared in October,” judge added.
The court directed to impose an immediate smog emergency adding that that smog is not his problem, rather it is the problem of all our children.
Later, the court adjourned further hearing of the case till November 03.
