ICC World Cup 2023: Arthur indicates potential change in national squad in clash with Kiwis
The team director alludes to the likelihood of a shift in the team's game plan, similar to the inclusion of Fakhar Zaman, who delivered outstanding performances upon returning from injury, particularly against Bangladesh.

Lahore: Mickey Arthur, the Team Director of Pakistan's cricket team, has shared insights into the potential alterations to the Men in Green's playing XI ahead of their World Cup clash with New Zealand on Saturday in Bengaluru.
"If we make a change - and regarding Haris Rauf, he plays a crucial role for us. He's essentially our strike bowler. So, no, we wouldn't consider replacing Haris Rauf because he has a specific role within the team. However, there is potential for a change in our game plan, yes,” said Arthur during his interaction with the media on Friday.
This tournament marks Pakistan's first participation in India since 2016.
Responding to a question about potential squad changes, Arthur commended Haris Rauf's role as a strike bowler and hinted at his probable retention in the team. He also alluded to the likelihood of a shift in the team's game plan, similar to the inclusion of Fakhar Zaman, who delivered outstanding performances upon returning from injury, particularly against Bangladesh.
Arthur went on to describe the extensive security measures his team has encountered at the World Cup in India as "stifling," leaving players with a sense of being "back in Covid times."
"As the Pakistan team, we're no strangers to traveling extensively due to our busy cricket schedule. What has been challenging is the level of security we've experienced. I found it quite overwhelming. It's almost like a return to the Covid-era restrictions, where we were confined to our floor and team room. The extent of separation was such that even our breakfast was served in a separate room. That's been the challenging aspect," he added.
