It is pertinent to note that since the Taliban government came to power in August 2021, estimated about 600,000 Afghans left their country, while millions sought refuge in Pakistan since the start of the US war in Afghanistan.
Since the government of Pakistan issued an order to evacuate 1.7 million Afghans living illegally in the country, more than 100,000 people have returned to Afghanistan.
The government of Pakistan said that this decision has been taken to ensure the ‘welfare and security’ of the country and the nation after the evidence of the involvement of Afghan citizens in terrorism incidents has come to light.
