Mithi: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari asserted that the people have endured a “selected government” for the past five years, and they will not accept such a scenario in the future.
Bilawal expressed these sentiments during the Diwali celebration with party workers and the people of Tharparkar in Mithi on Monday.
The PPP chairman highlighted the promotion of politics based on hatred and division by certain entities. He emphasized that while these entities may not desire a return to the politics of the 90s, the people do.
Despite the proximity of the upcoming elections, Bilawal noted that the election schedule has not been announced. He asserted that he sought support from the people, avoiding alliances with any particular political direction. Bilawal expressed confidence that many political parties will be surprised by the results of the Feb 8 elections.
Discussing the PPP's initiatives, Bilawal emphasized the party's commitment to poverty alleviation, considering it essential for national progress. He reaffirmed the party's manifesto, citing Zulfikar Bhutto as its foundation. According to Bilawal, the manifesto comprises Islam as their religion, democracy as their politics, equality as their economy, and the people as the source of power. He emphasized that demanding basic necessities for every individual remains a core aspect of the PPP's vision.
Bilawal acknowledged the historical development of Tharparkar under the People's Party government, citing the establishment of roads, airports, and educational and health institutions. He highlighted Benazir Bhutto's vision for the development of Thar Coal in the 1990s.
