The former PTI leader says a helmet-wearing delivery person threw acid on him as he opened the door.

Shahzad Akbar comes under attack at his residence in UK

London: Shahzad Akbar, former advisor to the ex-prime minister Imran Khan on accountability, came under attack at his residence in the United Kingdom on Sunday evening.

A man in the guise of a delivery boy threw acid on the face of the former PTI leader, who had been living in the UK.

Taking to X, previously known as Twitter, Akbar said, “?Last evening I was attacked at my address in England (where I am living in exile with my family) by unknown assailant/s who threw acidic liquid at me. Thankfully my wife and children are safe, however I got some injuries but nothing life-threatening. Police and emergency services arrived instantly and house being protected now. I will not be intimidated nor bow down to  those who are doing this,”.

The former PTI leader disclosed that he had recently relocated to a small village outside London approximately 1.5 months ago. He expressed concern that his new address had been leaked, leading to the unfortunate event.

 Akbar, who has been residing in the UK in self-imposed exile, narrated that he was at home with his children on a Sunday when a helmet-wearing delivery person approached. Upon opening the door, the assailant threw acid from a bottle, resulting in injuries to one side of his face and body.

Akbar promptly contacted the police after the attack, and law enforcement officers arrived at his residence within five minutes.

After the incident, he spent around 10 to 11 hours in the hospital before being discharged and returning home.

The former accountability chief informed that the vicinity around his residence has been secured by the police, and he is actively cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

Besides it, he mentioned that the police retrieved the acid bottle, which reportedly bears the suspect's fingerprints.

According to Akbar, the assailant was disguised as a delivery person and was riding a motorcycle.
