Farhatullah Babar's resignation, months ahead of the scheduled general elections on February 8, 2024, raised eyebrows, particularly as the People’s Party was in the process of issuing tickets to its candidates for the upcoming elections.


Islamabad: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Parliamentarians central leader Nayyar Hussain Bokhari has assumed a significant role within the party following the resignation of Farhatullah Babar as the PPP general secretary.
Nayyar Hussain Bokhari has been appointed as the PPP Parliamentarians secretary general, with the approval of former President Asif Ali Zardari. The development comes after Farhatullah Babar tendered his resignation from the position of PPP general secretary a few days ago.

Farhatullah Babar's resignation, months ahead of the scheduled general elections on February 8, 2024, raised eyebrows, particularly as the People’s Party was in the process of issuing tickets to its candidates for the upcoming elections.
In a statement, People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari acknowledged the resignation and mentioned that the former army chief had requested Babar's resignation, which he rejected. The statement further indicated that Babar would be assigned another position within the political party.
