Hearing on NAB appeal against Nawaz’s acquittal in flagship reference today
Due to the appearance of Nawaz Sharif, strict security arrangements have been made around the IHC.
Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear the appeal of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Nawaz Sharif's acquittal in the flagship reference today (Wednesday).
According to the details, a two-member bench comprising Chief Justice IHC Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb will hear the appeals.
Earlier in December 2018, the accountability court had acquitted Nawaz Sharif in the reference while NAB had filed an appeal against the decision of the accountability court.
Apart from this, the appeals against the former prime minister's conviction in the Avenfield and Al-Azizia references are also scheduled for hearing today.
Due to the appearance of Nawaz Sharif, strict security arrangements have been made around the IHC.
For this, the registrar office has issued a circular regarding the rules and regulations according to which the number of mobile phones ringing and rushing in the court room has been reduced.
It has been said in the circular that Inspector General (IG) Islamabad should ensure adequate security arrangements on the occasion of Nawaz Sharif’s appearance.
According to the circular, entry into courtroom number one will be subject to security passes issued by the Registrar's Office. The petitioner's legal team and 25 party leaders will be allowed to enter the courtroom.
During the hearing against the punishment of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader in the Avenfield and Al-Azizia references, the court had stated in its remarks that the charge against Nawaz Sharif was not properly framed nor did the NAB know what the evidence was.
