IHC declares NADRA's order to revoke citizenship of Hafiz Hamdullah as ‘illegal’
Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has declared the order of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to revoke citizenship of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Hafiz Hamdullah as illegal.

According to details, a hearing was conducted by Chief Justice IHC Athar Minallah over cancellation of citizenship of ex-minister and former senator Hafiz Hamdullah.
During proceedings, the court declared NADRA’s order as null and void terming it as surpassing authority.
“Citizenship is the biggest fundamental right and NADRA does not have the power to revoke it. The country has a constitution, there is a law and justice,” Chief Justice IHC remarked during proceeding.
The court also annulled Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA)'s order banning Hafiz Hamdullah’s appearance on TV.
Later, CJ IHC pronounced reserved verdict and termed NADRA’s order to revoke citizenship of Hafiz Hamdullah as illegal.
Earlier in October 2019, NADRA had declared JUI-F leader, an alien, alleging that he had ‘fraudulently obtained’ his computerized national identity card (CNIC) that has now been cancelled.
Later, a notification was issued by PEMRA barring TV channels from inviting him to talk shows as a guest.
