NAB reference of over Rs1 billion filed against Elahis
According to the reference, Parvez Elahi and Moonis Elahi illegally approved 116 development schemes.
Lahore: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Saturday filed a reference of more than one billion rupees against former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and Moonis Elahi and others.
Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and his son Moonis Elahi have been named as the main accused in the NAB reference and it has been stated that Parvez, Moonis and other accused were found involved in damaging the national treasury.
According to the reference, Parvez Elahi and Moonis Elahi illegally approved 116 development schemes. They took bribes and kickbacks worth more than 744.5 million rupees by awarding contracts to their favorite contractors.
The NAB reference stated that the accountant kept depositing kickbacks in the accounts of Moonis Elahi and his family. Moonis Elahi deposited 1.061 million Euros in his foreign bank account. Pervez Elahi's family members deposited an amount more than Rs304 million in their personal accounts.
It has been said in the NAB reference that the accused were found guilty in the investigation, therefore the accountability court should conduct a trial and punish the accused.
