ECP summones Secretary Finance for non-provision of funds
According to the ECP, even after the written reminder to the Ministry of Finance, the response has not yet been received.
Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Monday summoned the Finance Secretary on the issue of non-provision of funds for the general elections.
According to the details, Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan will also inform the Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar about the situation.
The Election Commission stated that Rs10 billion have been received from the Ministry of Finance so far, while the supply of the remaining amount has been delayed without any reasonable justification. The ECP needs 17 billion rupees immediately for the general elections.
According to the ECP, even after the written reminder to the Ministry of Finance, the response has not yet been received. The Chief Election Commissioner will write a detailed letter to the Prime Minister today on the situation.
It is pertinent to note that in the budget of this financial year, 42 billion rupees were allocated for the general elections.
