Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) while hearing the petitions against correcting the constituencies, Friday annulled the constituencies of PP 35 Wazirabad and PP 59 Gujranwala.
According to the details, the court also ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to review the issue of constituencies of NA-123 and NA-120 of Lahore.
Justice Ali Baqir Najafi of LHC heard the petitions against delimitation of Lahore and Hafizabad constituencies.
Pakistan Muslim league-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Atta Tarar appeared in the court, while Advocate Supreme Court Azam Nazir Tarar argued.
In the petition filed in this regard, it has been argued that the changes were made in NA-123 and Gakhar Mandi constituencies and the law was not taken into account while doing so.
It has been stated in the petition that the population of one constituency has been increased and the population of another constituency has been reduced, while the population of constituencies cannot be more or less than the ratio given in the law.
The court has been requested that it declares the constituencies made on an unfair basis null and void.
After arguments, the court annulled the constituencies of PP 35 Wazirabad and 59 Gujranwala.
