IPP promises free electricity up to 300 units after coming into power
IPP President Abdul Aleem Khan emphasizes his commitment to expanding a network of free dispensaries throughout Pakistan to cater to deserving individuals.
Lahore: Abdul Aleem Khan, President of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), has pledged to provide free electricity for consumption up to 300 units if his party assumes power in the upcoming elections.
Addressing the issue of inflated electricity bills as a major concern for the nation, Khan stated that, upon gaining power, the IPP would extend financial support to WAPDA. Individuals consuming up to 300 units would be eligible for complimentary electricity, he added.
Khan emphasized his commitment to expanding a network of free dispensaries throughout Pakistan to cater to deserving individuals.
The statement came after Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) officially announced the general elections on February 8, 2024.
The notification, issued under Section 57 of the Election Act, cited the Supreme Court's directive, confirming that the elections would be held on the specified date.
In a related development, it has been disclosed that IPP has compiled a list of national and provincial assembly constituencies for potential seat adjustments with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the 2024 general elections.
The IPP committee, consisting of Ishaq Khakwani, Awn Chaudhry, and Nauman Langrial, collaborated with top party leaders to finalize the lists for seat adjustments. Sources suggest that Jahangir Tareen-led IPP aims to negotiate seat adjustments in 20 National Assembly seats, comprising 19 in Punjab and one in Karachi.
