The Supreme Court disqualified Nawaz Sharif from holding any public office under Article 1F.
Islamabad: The Supreme Court Wednesday constituted a seven-member larger bench to hear the case of lifetime disqualification of parliamentarians under Article 62-1F.
According to the details, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa will head this seven-member larger bench on January 2, 2024.
It is pertinent to note that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was disqualified in the Panama case under the same Article 62-1F.
The Supreme Court disqualified Nawaz Sharif from holding any public office under Article 1F for failing to disclose the possible salary from his son's firm.
This incompetence of Nawaz Sharif has not been removed yet.
In the previous hearing, the Supreme Court had decided to hear all the petitions related to Article 62-1F of lifelong disqualification.
Supreme Court in the written order of the last hearing said that the cases questioning the period of disqualification should be fixed at the beginning of January, the pendency of the case shall not be used to delay the election.
The order added that the Additional Attorney General pointed out that a minimum five-member bench is necessary for a case involving a constitutional question.
According to the decree, the lawyers of the parties said that the decision of this court is necessary before the general elections regarding the determination of the period of disqualification.
