Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) summoned the Director General (DG) Intelligence Bureau (IB) and DG Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on February 19 in the audio leaks case.

According to the details, Justice Babar Sattar of IHC issued a seven-page written order in the audio leaks case, in which it has been said that the Attorney General stated that the federal government did not allow any intelligence agency to record telephone calls.

It has been added in the order that the Attorney General said that it is important to protect the privacy and rights of all citizens, questioning that who released the audio leaks on social media. For which FIA sought time to reply.

The court asked the FIA to submit a report detailing the social media accounts sharing the audio leaks and the DG FIA to appear and explain how surveillance and recording of phone calls can be done.

According to the IHC order, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) submitted its report on the audio leaks through the Ministry of Defense which stated that ISI does not have the technology to determine the source of information shared on social media. The Intelligence Bureau should conduct an inquiry and submit a report that from which accounts the audio leaks were shared. 

Court ordered to submit details of social media accounts sharing audio of illegally recorded calls. DGIB should tell that who can do surveillance on citizens of Pakistan. He should also tell whether the state of Pakistan has the ability to be safe from illegal surveillance.
