PHC seeks response from ECP over PTI's contempt of court petition
PTI is of the opinion that the Election Commission has not released PTI's certificate on the website despite the court order.
Peshawar: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) Friday issued a notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on the contempt petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and sought its response.
According to the details, the hearing of PTI's contempt petition against the Election Commission was held in the PHC.
During the hearing, Qazi Anwar Advocate and Shah Faisal Ilyas Advocate appeared in the court.
PTI's lawyers said that the PHC had ordered the Election Commission to publish the PTI certificate on the website, but neither the election symbol certificate was issued to the PTI nor the Election Commission published the certificate on the website.
The Peshawar High Court issued a notice to the Election Commission on the request of PTI and sought their response.
It is pertinent to note that PTI had filed a contempt of court petition in the Peshawar High Court against the Election Commission on the issue of intra-party elections and for not issuing their election symbol ‘bat’.
