Dense fog disrupts traffic, motorways closed for safety
Motorway M-3, spanning from Faisalabad to Darkhana, and Motorway M-5, covering the stretch from Sher Shah to Rahim Yar Khan, have promptly been closed due to the intensified fog.
Lahore: As night fell, the dense fog blanketed the provincial seat and many others in Punjab caused serious problem for the traffic flow and led to the temporary closure of several key motorways.
The precautionary measures were taken to ensure the safety of commuters amid challenging visibility conditions.
Motorway M-3, spanning from Faisalabad to Darkhana, and Motorway M-5, covering the stretch from Sher Shah to Rahim Yar Khan, were promptly closed due to the intensified fog.
The closure extended to Multan-Faisalabad Motorway, Faisalabad-Lahore Motorway, and Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, affecting a substantial network of major routes.
The decision to close these motorways was driven by the imperative to prevent accidents and prioritize the safety of travelers.
The authorities urged citizens to refrain from unnecessary travel during periods of dense fog and encouraged them to plan their journeys in daylight to ensure a smoother commute.
The Motorway Police spokesperson issued essential guidance for travelers, advising the use of fog lights and emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles.
The commuters were urged to gather information about road conditions before embarking on their journeys through the Motorway Police Help Line 130.
