Iranian FM calls Pakistani counterpart in wake of border attack
Foreign Minister Jilani highlights that unilateral actions could seriously undermine regional peace and stability.
Islamabad: In the aftermath of the Balochistan attack, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian held a telephonic discussion with his Pakistani counterpart Jalil Abbas Jilani.
Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani strongly emphasized that the attack carried out by Iran within Pakistani territory on January 16 constituted not only a severe violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty but also a blatant breach of international law and the cooperative spirit defining bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran.

“Expressing Pakistan’s unequivocal condemnation of the attack, the Foreign Minister stated that the incident has inflicted significant harm on the bilateral ties between Pakistan and Iran. Furthermore, he conveyed that Pakistan retained the right to respond to this provocative act,” as per the Foreign Office Spokesperson's statement.
Emphasizing that terrorism poses a shared threat to the region and necessitates collaborative efforts to combat it, Foreign Minister Jilani highlighted that unilateral actions could seriously undermine regional peace and stability. He stressed the importance of avoiding such perilous paths for any country in the region.
The caretaker foreign minister, leading the Pakistani delegation to the Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement in Kampala, Uganda, received a call from Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.
