Late Elahi Bakhsh Soomro died due to heart failure, he was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Karachi.


Karachi: Senior politician and ex-speaker National Assembly Elahi Bakhsh Soomro has passed away at the age of 97.
According to the details, late Elahi Bakhsh Soomro died due to heart failure, he was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Karachi. His body has been sent to his hometown Jacobabad.
Elahi Bakhsh was born in Jacobabad district in 1926. His family has been playing an important role in the politics of Sindh before the establishment of Pakistan. Bakhsh Soomro was the first federal minister during the regime of General Zia-ul-Haq.
He was the 16th Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 1997 to 2001. Elahi Bakhsh has been a Federal Minister and a member of the Senate several times.
It is pertinent to note that his wife Parveen Elahi Bakhsh had passed away just a day ago.
