Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) instructed the caretaker government to refrain from privatization of PIA and left the matter to the next government.

Islamabad: The caretaker government has faced two major setbacks as the government will not be able to privatize PIA and outsource airports before the upcoming general elections ahead on February 8, 2024.
According to details, the caretaker government will be unable to privatize the national flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and outsource the airports to potential foreign investors before the next general polls ahead on February 8, 2024.
Therefore, the deadline for outsourcing the airports has been extended to March 15, 2024 as efforts to move ahead with the caretaker setup period were underway.
However, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) instructed the caretaker government to refrain from privatization of PIA and left the matter to the next government.
