NEPRA reserves decision to increase tariff prices
However, the increase in electricity price will not be applicable to the electricity consumers of Lifeline.
Islamabad: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has reserved its decision on the request to increase the power prices 5Rs per unit.
According to the details, power distribution companies had submitted a request to NEPRA to raise the price of electricity by 5Rs per unit for the quarterly adjustment for October to December 2023, which was heard in NEPRA.
Member Nepra Rafiq Sheikh asked how much was the burden due to the violation of the merit order and the difficulties of the system. How long will this system last, what is the plan or will we continue to sell like this? Ever since the creation of Pakistan, problems have been going on, how long will these solutions be?
Member Nepra Rafiq Shaikh said that do the institutions have any solution, how long will this problem be solved? This month there has been a problem related to power supply 3 times, either tell that there is no solution.
During the hearing, Member Nepra Mutahir Niaz Rana said that nuclear power was generated less due to refueling of nuclear fuel.
Officials clarified that the electricity companies will replace the faulty meters by February.
On the request of Nepra to increase the price of electricity by 5 rupees per unit, the decision was reserved, which will be issued after reviewing the data.
However, the increase in electricity price will not be applicable to the electricity consumers of Lifeline.
