Police refuse to provide security for candidates during elections
Under the police security plan, police personnel will be deployed at corner meetings, election rallies and polling stations.
Peshawar: The Peshawar Police has refused from providing police gunmen for security of the candidates of various political parties contesting in the general elections.
Under the police security plan, police personnel will be deployed at corner meetings, election rallies and polling stations.
On the other hand, Peshawar Police in its statement on this issue said that all candidates should take guards from registered security companies to ensure safety. Police will provide security for candidates' corner meetings and rallies only.
According to Peshawar Police, the personnel will be deployed at the polling stations, there is no additional contingent to give to the candidates.
The Peshawar Police also stated that the measures have been taken under the available resources as per the security plan.
