In the statement released by PTA, it has been stated that the government of Pakistan will not shut down the internet on the day of the election, the users will have full access to the internet on the day of the election. They did not receive any instructions from the government regarding internet shutdown.
It is pertinent to note that there were a lot of speculations on the social media regarding the fact that the internet service will remain suspended on the day of election on February 8, after which the Sindh High Court (SHC) also issued orders for the provision of internet and mobile phone services throughout the country without interruption on the day of election.
SHC Chief Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi expressed his indignation over the repeated shutdowns and disruptions of internet service in the country and said that if his internet does not work, who will work elsewhere, it seems that it will be fixed after the elections.
