Ilham Aliyev again elected as President of Azerbaijan
Candidates competing against President Ilham Aliyev could not even compete with him for a long time.
Baku: Ilham Aliyev has once again been elected as the President of Azerbaijan.
According to foreign media, 6.5 million people were eligible to vote in the presidential elections in Azerbaijan, while the voting rate was about 77 percent, in which President Ilham Aliyev was elected president for the second consecutive term with 93.7 votes. Only 1.8% votes could be obtained.
Candidates competing against President Ilham Aliyev could not even compete with him for a long time.
The main reason for the popularity of the president of Azerbaijan and the overwhelming victory in the elections is because he won the war in the disputed territory from the rival country Armenia and took back his land.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan telephoned Azeri President Ilham Aliyev and congratulated him on his resounding victory in the elections. The leaders expressed their determination to continue diplomatic and trade relations between the two countries.
