ISPR hopeful for democratic progress in 2024 elections, hails security sacrifices
With 137,000 army personnel and civil armed forces stationed across 6,000 sensitive polling stations, alongside over 7,800 Quick Response Forces, ISPR ensured a secure environment for voters.
Rawalpindi - The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday expressed hope that the 2024 general elections will mark a significant step forward for democracy in Pakistan, aligning with the aspirations of the populace.
ISPR underscored the invaluable sacrifices made by security personnel to ensure the peaceful conduct of the elections.
The military's media wing extended felicitations to the nation for the generally calm electoral process, noting the absence of violence. It emphasized the crucial role played by the armed forces and other law enforcement agencies in maintaining security during the elections, in adherence to Pakistan's constitution.
With 137,000 army personnel and civil armed forces stationed across 6,000 sensitive polling stations, alongside over 7,800 Quick Response Forces, ISPR ensured a secure environment for voters. Despite facing 51 terrorist attacks, particularly in KP and Balochistan, aimed at disrupting the elections, security forces persevered in upholding peace nationwide. Tragically, 12 individuals, including 10 security personnel, lost their lives, with 39 others sustaining injuries during these incidents.
The armed forces reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and security, pledging unwavering support to uphold Pakistan's democratic traditions. Through proactive intelligence operations and swift responses, security agencies neutralized numerous potential threats, underscoring their steadfast dedication to safeguarding citizens' democratic rights. Additionally, five terrorists were eliminated in various operations.
ISPR expressed appreciation to other law enforcement agencies for their collaborative efforts in protecting the democratic process. The hope remains that these sacrifices will not be in vain and that the elections will significantly reinforce democracy in Pakistan.
