Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi says artificial intelligence, deep fake technology and voice cloning are the bigger challenges and the PTV would have to focus on them to ensure its bright future.

Islamabad: Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi on Friday called for focusing on modern trends of broadcasting and public interest programming in view of the evolving media landscape.
Addressing the launching ceremony of Pakistan Television's News Letter in Islamabad on Friday, he said artificial intelligence, deep fake technology and voice cloning are the bigger challenges and the PTV would have to focus on them to ensure its bright future. He said the state television should make its main broadcasts as well as digital products competitive to the options available to the people.
The Minister said PTV is a state broadcaster, being run on taxpayers' money, and its prime loyalty should be with the people and the interests of Pakistan. He said Pakistan is a multicultural and multilingual country and PTV needs to take care of people's economic and cultural diversity. He, however, commended the Pakistan Television for representing local languages and cultural diversity of the country.
Murtaza Solangi, who also holds the portfolio of the minister for parliamentary affairs, commended PTV for maintaining its neutrality, while covering differing political parties during the recently concluded general elections in the country. He said session of the newly elected National Assembly will be convened as soon as the Election Commission of Pakistan notifies official results of the polls.
The Minister expressed the hope that the newly elected government will soon assume its responsibilities. He urged the upcoming dispensation to take PTV and all other state institutions towards modernization may it be in the form of management, skill development or technical up-gradation.
