Lahore: Caretaker information minister of Punjab Amir Mir said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) leader and lawyer Salman Akram Raja has been released.
According to the details, PTI leader Salman Akram Raja was arrested by Punjab police and shifted to unknown place in prison van.
Salman was arrested from Jail Road Lahore outside PTI party office where workers were protesting against alleged rigged elections results.
When Salman Akram reached the Tehreek-e-Insaf office on Jail Road, the police took him into custody and various party workers also.
At the time of the arrest of the famous jurist, slogans were raised against the police by the party workers present there. Women workers are also participating in the protest of Tehreek-e-Insaf.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Ali Nasir also reached outside the PTI office on Jail Road.
It is pertinent to note that Barrister Salman contested the elections from Lahore constituency NA-128 against Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) leader Aun Chaudhry and lost.
After which he consulted the relevant forums to investigate the allegedly rigged elections and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ordered suspension of the victory notification of Aun Chaudhry.
