Lahore: Maryam Nawaz, the Senior Vice President of PML-N, poised to become Pakistan's first woman Chief Minister, pledged on Wednesday to establish new benchmarks in Punjab while executing her responsibilities as the chief executive of the rovince.

Nominated as the PML-N's candidate for the important position of Punjab's Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz addressed the party's inaugural parliamentary meeting in Punjab.

Maryam Nawaz heralded the commencement of a new era for Punjab, inspired by the legacies of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif, former Chief Ministers. She expressed determination to set unprecedented standards of development in the province.

She commended the party's clear majority in the provincial assembly and lauded the inclusion of young members among the elected representatives.

Highlighting the historic significance of her nomination as Pakistan's first female Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz dedicated the honor to every woman in the country, emphasizing her commitment to inclusive governance and women's empowerment.

Drawing inspiration from India and Bangladesh, she advocated for digitalization throughout the province, vowing to establish five IT cities during her tenure.

Maryam Nawaz expressed gratitude to PML-N and its supporters, pledging to draw from the experiences of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif in guiding provincial affairs as former Prime Minister and ex-Chief Minister of Punjab, respectively.

She outlined plans for governance, revealing a comprehensive roadmap focusing on health, education, infrastructure, law and order, agriculture, and information technology across Punjab. Maryam Nawaz underscored the implementation of the "Safe Punjab" initiative, intending to extend the "Safe City" project to all cities in the province and enhance the efficiency of the police station system.
