Cabinet Committee approves works on Pak-Iran gas pipeline
The Committee approved the recommendations of the Ministerial Oversight Committee for Pak-Iran Project constituted by the Prime Minister in September last year whereby the Committee recommended to start work on the pipeline inside Pakistan in the first phase.
Islamabad: Cabinet Committee on Energy on Friday approved work on the eighty kilometers segment of the Pak-Iran Gas Pipeline inside Pakistan.
The approval was accorded at a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Energy in Islamabad on Friday.
The Committee approved the recommendations of the Ministerial Oversight Committee for Pak-Iran Project constituted by the Prime Minister in September last year whereby the Committee recommended to start work on the pipeline inside Pakistan in the first phase.
The Project will be executed by Inter State Gas Systems Pvt Ltd. and will be funded through Gas Infrastructure Development Cess.
The project will boost energy security of Pakistan and improve confidence of the local industry through enhanced gas supplies.
It will also catalyze economic activity in Balochistan and will contribute to overall economic progress of the country.
