Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has sought a report from the RPO Bahawalpur about alleged rape of a woman by police official in Bahawalnagar.
The woman had accused a police constable of a rape against a job offer. She said she was told that she would be hired as a lady constable.
But, she said, as she met with the relevant official he along with his accomplice took her to some place and subjected her to sexual assault.
Meanwhile, she honored her commitment to the public by ensuring the prompt provision of new stretchers and beds to Mayo Hospital's emergency department. This initiative came as a response to the requests from patients and their attendants, prompting her to issue orders last night for the acquisition of new stretchers and wheelchairs. Additionally, in accordance with her directives, a dedicated prayer area has been designated for female doctors and staff within the emergency block.
In another development, CM Maryam took notice of the fire incident at Lahore Pace Plaza. Expressing concern, she directed the fire brigade and rescue 1122 to immediately initiate relief efforts. She further instructed the commissioner and deputy commissioner to promptly reach the scene of the incident. Emphasizing the safety of citizens and their property, she underscored the need to ensure their protection.
Earlier in the day, the CM met with PML-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif upon her arrival at the national assembly. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif warmly embraced and expressed affection for Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
During the meeting, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif affectionately placed his hand on the head of Maryam Aurangzeb. Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif also had meetings with party president Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Senator Ishaq Dar and Hamza Shehbaz Sharif.
In a separate interaction, Peoples Party leader Asifa Bhutto met Maryam Nawaz in the national assembly's guest gallery, inquiring about her well-being and exchanging good wishes.
