Islamabad: Adding to the woes of an already financially strained public amidst inflationary pressures, government authorities announced a hike in petrol prices on Thursday while opting to keep diesel prices unchanged.
As per the notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, the decision entails an increase of Rs. 4.13 per liter in the price of petrol, while maintaining the price of high-speed diesel unaltered.
Following the adjustment, the new price of petrol reaches Rs279.75 per liter while high-speed diesel retains its stability at Rs287.33 per liter.
The Ministry of Finance clarified that the revised prices took effect from midnight and would remain applicable for the fortnight.
