US terms CM Maryam Nawaz ‘milestone’ in Pakistani politics

Washington DC: United States Department spokesperson Matthew Miller declared the election of Maryam Nawaz as the Chief Minister of Punjab as a milestone in the politics of Pakistan.
Addressing in a press briefing, the spokesperson of the US State Department said that Pakistan has a long-standing partnership, and the US values the alliance with Pakistan.
Matthew Miller stated that a prosperous and democratic Pakistan is important to the interests of the United States and Pakistan, and will continue to focus on advancing common interests with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his government.
He further said that they are looking forward to cooperate with Pakistan to include women in the political stream of the country.
