Qalandars secure first victory by beating United in PSL 9
The United which opted to bowl first could not chase the target set by the Qalandars at Rawalpindi ground on Wednesday night.
Rawalpindi: Lahore Qalandars finally won the first match by defeating Islamabad United at Rawalpindi Stadium on Wednesday night.
Qalandars defeated United by 17 runs.
Islamabad United won the coin toss and opted to field against Lahore Qalandars. The Qalandars set 163-run target for the United against the loss of seven wickets. Rassie van der Dussen scored 64 runs off 44 balls and remained the top scorer among the Qalandars.
In response, Islamabad United could score only 145 and failed to chase the target. Faheem Ashraf could contribute 41 runs and all others just continued come and go, leading thier side to loss the match.
Before starting the match, the Qalandars had said that they would fight for thier survival in the tournament. It was a must win match for Qalandars as they could not win any match so far since Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9 started on February 17.
