Schools reopen for class 10th, 12th today
Lahore: After observing a steep decline in COVID cases and deaths, all public and private schools across Punjab have been allowed to reopen campuses for Classes 10th and 12th from Monday (today).
According to an official notification from the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) and Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (Peira), all educational institutions have been reopen from today for students of class 10th and 12th, who will attempt their board exams in June.
As per Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), examination of class 12th will start on June 24 and that of class 10th on June 23.
The Higher Education Department (HED) Punjab has already issued a notification in this regard.
The colleges would reopen on staggered attendance basis 50 percent attendance on alternate days with strict compliance of coronavirus related Standards Operating Procedures (SOPS).
Classes from one to nine in schools and first year in colleges will reopen from June 7.
A review meeting will be held on June 3 to decide the future course of action.
The meeting is likely to approve reopening of the institutes from June 7 as the Covid-19 positivity rate has dropped below 3 percent.
Earlier, the School Education Department (SED) Punjab had notified reopening of all public and private schools in selected 16 districts from May 24.
The districts included Bahawalnagar, Chakwal, Chiniot, Hafizabad, Jhang, Jhelum, Kasur, Mandi Bahauddin, Nankana Sahib, Narowal, Pakpattan, Rajanpur, Sahiwal, Sheikhupura, Sialkot and Vehari.
