Pakistan: COVID-19 death toll nears 21,000 with 71 new fatalities

Islamabad: Pakistan has reported 1,771 new COVID-19 cases, taking the number of infections to 922,824, while 71 more people have succumbed to the deadly coronavirus.

Pakistan is presently experiencing the third wave of coronavirus which is said to be deadlier and more contagious than previous two waves.

According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 1,771 cases of coronavirus were reported while 71 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 20,850.

The total number of confirmed cases reached to 922,824.

As many as 844,638 patients have recovered from the disease with 3,842 critical cases.

Punjab                                                                                       

The number of patients swelled to 340,110 in the province with 10,039 causalities.

Sindh

The number of infections has surged to 318,579 in the province, while the death toll has reached 5,039.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The confirmed cases have surged to 132,822 in the province with 4,079 casualties.

Balochistan

There are 25,218 confirmed cases while 280 patients have died from the infection so far.

AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan

There are 19,250 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 544. On the other hand, there are 5,588 cases in GB with 107 coronavirus deaths.

Islamabad

There are 81,257 cases in the capital city while 762 people have lost their lives.
