Lahore: The opposition vociferously demanded the release of the PTI founder during Punjab Assembly session on Wednesday.
The assembly commenced its proceedings with Deputy Speaker Zaheer Iqbal Channar presiding despite a delay of one hour and forty minutes.
The Opposition members prominently displayed banners bearing the images of the PTI founder within the House, fervently advocating for his release.
Opposition leader Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar raised concerns over the obstruction faced by Mian Aslam Iqbal in entering the House.
Expressing discontent over the police presence outside, Bhachar insisted on the immediate inclusion of both Mian Aslam Iqbal and Ahmad Rashid Bhatti in the assembly proceedings, emphasizing the opposition's unwavering stance.
In response, the deputy speaker reassured that Mian Aslam Iqbal was welcome to enter the House at any given time, suggesting that he consult the speaker for further guidance.
Bhachar further advocated for the medical evaluation of former chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi.
During the assembly session, Sunni Ittehad Council MPA Khayal Ahmed Kastro voiced his grievances, alleging unfair treatment prior to the elections. He emphasized the need to address concerns raised by a female MPA from the treasury benches the previous day.
Kastro firmly stated, "Regardless of whether my leader is in government or not, we will not back down. We will respond to the government with resilience."
