#WorldSupportsIndianFarmers trends on twitter after Rihanna brings global attention to farmers protest
New Delhi: International pop-star Rihanna’s tweet in support of protesting farmers in India went viral with messages applauding the singer for taking a firm stand on the issue and expressing solidarity with farmers.

Soon after, other international celebrities including social activist Greta Thunberg, Mia Khalifa, Lilly Singh, Jay Seans and Meena Harris also came out in support of the farmers, who are protesting against the newly passed agricultural laws which they think will lead to commercialization of agriculture, making farmers extremely vulnerable to corporate greed.
With millions of tweets in support of famers, hashtags like #FarmersProtest, #StandWithFarmers and #WorldSupportsIndianFarmers started trending on twitter with people expressing their sentiments over the issue.

The economies of Pakistan and India are based on the farmer's crop. Unfortunately, farmers in both countries are treated very badly. The UN should take notice against the Modi government and provide justice to the farmers. ??#WorldSupportsIndianFarmers pic.twitter.com/Al7Bss1bqZ

On India’s Republic Day, thousands of protesting farmers broke barricades and entered the Indian capital in the form of a tractor rally. The violent clashes between police and demonstrators left one dead and hundreds of others injured. Some demonstrators stormed Delhi's historic Red Fort and occupied it until police pushed them back.
